Specializing in rare 18th - 20th Century Japanese Woodblock Prints
Born in Hokkaido, Maeda wanted to be an artist from childhood. In 1924 he went to Tokyo, and in 1925 graduated from the Kawabata Painting School. He exhibited paintings and prints at the Kokugakai from 1927 through the 1930's, but focused only on prints from the 1940's. Represented in the Tokyo International Print Biennale and in numerous other exhibitions in Japan and abroad. He is noted for his skilled technique in carving and printing.
